Although Avalon II is quite old (and has undergone multiple rebuilds to modernise her function and performance in recent years), she remains in remarkable condition. A true classic and testament to David Pleysier’s extraordinary level of customisation with vessels built using Hunt hulls.
Interior space on Avalon II is spacious, light, and airy; she features a complete salon/dining area along with a full media center for still and video photography, lounges/lounges, bar area and hot tub/Jacuzzi on its expansive deck area. Furthermore, Avalon II features 12 comfortable guest cabins – each equipped with ensuite bathrooms and their own balcony/sliding door for guests’ use.
The Avalon II builds on the success of its predecessor watch by refining certain aspects to enhance both design and experience. The bronze case now has more pronounced curves and weighs slightly less to make wearing easier; Swiss Super-LumiNova(r) T-C1 X1 grade lume is generously applied to numerals and markers on dial and bezel insert while also red-highlighting minute hand arrow and “Avalon II” presented at bottom of seconds hand for further emphasising Arthurian themes.
A new waffle pattern graces the dial of this watch, while applied markers feature polished surrounds to add depth and visual interest. Cardinal hour markers – three, nine and twelve – feature slightly sharper, more pointed edges which stand out against their surroundings. A trapezoidal date window sits atop an applied marker at six o’clock.
All this adds up to an amazingly legible and bright dial that works beautifully with its polished stainless steel bezel. Around back there is also an elaborate stamped sword motif which complements Arthurian themes as well as an easy-to-operate clasp designed for any weather condition.
