Avalon II is Avalon Waterways’ latest Suite Ship to hit the Rhine River this spring with itineraries spanning 8-14 days. She boasts 52 suites and 12 deluxe staterooms equipped with private bathrooms, air conditioning climate controls, and sliding glass doors to a private balcony.
Barry Thomas was the first owner to modify Avalon II extensively after its design by C Raymond Hunt and David Pleysier was completed, changing her dimensions for better stability (beam broadened from 4.77m to 4.79m) as well as adding sheerline raise the bow, creating a boat with superior performance, comfort and seakeeping capability.
The Avalon II was constructed according to US coastal survey standards and, with just some basic equipment upgrades, could easily become commercial fishing vessel. Her overengineered structure features watertight bulkheads, stepped crash bulkheads in the bow, as well as heavy gauge safety equipment.
The hull is composed of high-density aluminum alloy construction while her deckhouse and superstructure are finished in teak. She comes equipped with all standard navigational, communications, and reelax equipment as well as new tackle station and reelax equipment.
